FALL FUN FEST 2009 - October 31, 2009

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon outside but inside of the Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle Fellowship Center, you could feel the enthusiasm and excitement of every child who came to our 18th annual Fall Fun Fest. With our newly dedicated building expansion available for our event, we we able to add more games and give Moms, Dads, children and guests more breathing room. We had inflates available for the children, face painting, carnival games, God's little princess (where girls could get their nails done and make a princess crown) as well as food for sale and popcorn, caramel apples and cotton candy.
The whole afternoon was wrapped up with a puppet musical GPS that was presented in the Auditorium. Thanks to everyone who helped out as well as everyone who brought their children to this great event.

FALL KICK-OFF 2009 - September 13, 2009

Goal posts, a football field, mascots and 2 referees were just part of our first ever Fall Kick-off 2009. On Sunday, September 13th, our Fellowship Center looked a little different as we hosted a big pep rally to advertise the various children's ministries this fall at SGT. We had representatives from Children's Sunday school, Royal Rangers, Kidz for Christ, Missionettes, Preteens, Middlers and Rainbows. Our two referee's (Stepen Zarlengo & Pastor Dave) did their best to keep the crowd in line as well as the games moving forward.
Each ministry leader ran onto our carpetted field after being introduced by our PA announcer Joe Otero.

This looks like a new tradition here at SGT every fall so stay tuned!!

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2009

What a great week of ministry we had from July 20-24. All children ages 5 to grade 6 enjoyed an awesome week of bible lessons, recreation, crafts, music and puppets all in “Studio Go Game Show” our theme for 2009. The children learned what it means to go serve, go lead, go risk, go tell and go obey. The kids loved the energetic Praise and worship from our live band directed by Children’s ministry assistant Desiree Cirillo as well as visits from our incredible Game Show host Wade Winalot (Jacob Mathai) and our puppet contestants Coach Armstrong (Jordan Harff) and Professor Wordsmart (Kaylee Harff).A huge thank you to the many adult and youth helpers whop volunteered their time each morning to serve as well as to our director Linda Saunders and Maryann Zuber. With our mission project this year, we were able to collect over 800 cans of food for our churches food pantry. On Friday evening, July 24th we had an awesome Closing Program which some parents dubbed “the best ever!” We look forward to 2010 knowing God has great things in store for us as we continue to serve Him and minister to the children here on Long Island.

MISSIONETTES CLOSING PROGRAM - June 5, 2009

Our Missionettes celebrated the 2008-2009 year with a Closing program and dessert. It is always so hard to say goodbye to programs during the school year BUT...we always can look forward to them returning in September!
Not only was it a great night of food and fellowship, but each class had the opportunity to minister by way of drama, dance and reciting bible verses. The Rainbows class also joined in the festivities as well. It was such a blessing to see the number of parents who came out to supp
ort their children! We will not only see you this fall, but hopefully at our summer programs!

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE - May 25, 2009

We could not have asked for a more beautiful day! The Children's Ministries once again participated in the Memorial Day Parade in Smithtown, NY with our Studio Go Game Show float as well as many Missionettes, Royal Rangers, Rainbows, CSWAM (Christian Singles with a Mission) and the SCS Cheerleaders. Having the opportunity to play christian music while our float is traveling down Main Street in Smithtown is an awesome way to spread the gospel right here in our own Jerusalem. A huge "Thank you" to all the SGT kids who supported the Children's Ministries on Memorial Day.

MISSIONS CONVENTION 2009 - International Game Night - April 29, 2009

We concluded our Missions Convention with a fun night. About 60 children entered our Fellowship Center to play games kids play around the world. Throughout the evening, two groups of kids played games such as Japanese Tag, cricket, European Handball and Main Bailing Tin. During halftime we took time to hear from God's Word and also meet 3 young missionaries who serve in Nigeria (Elijah, Jiilian and Emily Black). The kids had a great time. In fact, sonme of them did not want to leave! This was our third year hosting this event. Next year we will try to find some new games that kids love to play around our world.

MISSIONS CONVENTION 2009 - Trip around the World - April 26, 2009

For the 18th time in SGT history, the children's ministries hosted our annual Trip around the World. This year, we were privileged (sort of) to have a new pilot GRANDPA LOU! Our Customs agents and Security Guards greeted the kids, stamped their tickets and passports as they entered Missionary Airlines Flight 316. Grandpa Lou greeted the kids from his cockpit, gave instructions and eventually the plane took off (by using some imagination). Snacks were given out, turbulence then occurred (with Grandpa Lou upside down on his video) and we eventually landed. Our "passengers" then headed to visit the countries of Belize, Malaysia and Kazakhstan. After our "tours" the passengers returned to the "plane" and prizes were given away by way of numbers on each passport.
It was a great night!

MISSIONS CONVENTION 2009 - Sidwalk Sunday school - April 26, 2009

At 8:30 am & 12:15 pm to kick off our Missions Convention, our children's ministry along with our Kids in Missions students hosted a Sidewalk Sunday school. All across our world, Sidewalk Sunday school is a popular method in reaching children who ever have the privilege of going to church. We helped re-create a Sidewalk Sunday school in Mexico City. Our Kids in Missions dressed up as clowns and ministered by way of drama, music and puppets. We also did pledges, played games, were taught object lessons and had a visit by Grandpa Lou. We also saw a video of a Sidewalk Sunday school program by way of youtube!

PRETEEN CHALLENGE 'ALIEN ADVENTURES" - March 28, 2009

It was a warm Saturday afternoon at noon. While many preteen aged kids may have been at a park playing baseball who who knows where, we had 10 preteens at Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle coming to church fpr one reason, to get slimed and messed up with all sorts of yucky stuff. Our theme was "Alien Adventures" and some of the games we played were Flying Saucers, ET Eaters, Take me to your Liter & Capture the Alien. Our last game was called "Wheel of Stunts" where the kids had to spin a whell and find out if it would land on Slime, Goo, Beans, Pie or Kneel. Here are the definitions:
SLIME - Green Slime poured over their heads
GOO - A mixture of flour, water and green food coloring poured over there heads
BEANS - A can of black beans poured over there heads
PIE - A cream pie in their face
KNEEL - They had to kneel in macaroni and beans and have the same poured over them

The kids left messy but had a blast!

ROYAL RANGERS PINEWOOD DERBY - March 27, 2009

"Gentleman! Start your engines!" Well, not really engines but how about Pinewood Derby Cars! There was a huge turnout at the SGT Felowship Center as our Royal Rangers Outpost 149 hosted their annual Outpost Pinewood Derby. The evening started with a great devotional by Pastor Rich Collingridge, our Missions Pastor. Then...the racing began as cars flew down the wooden track with each of the boys watching intently from the sidelines hoping for thier car to win the race.
A special thanks to Commander Artie Straus and all of our faithful Commnders who helped make this event a HUGE success!
