PRETEEN CHALLENGE 'ALIEN ADVENTURES" - March 28, 2009

It was a warm Saturday afternoon at noon. While many preteen aged kids may have been at a park playing baseball who who knows where, we had 10 preteens at Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle coming to church fpr one reason, to get slimed and messed up with all sorts of yucky stuff. Our theme was "Alien Adventures" and some of the games we played were Flying Saucers, ET Eaters, Take me to your Liter & Capture the Alien. Our last game was called "Wheel of Stunts" where the kids had to spin a whell and find out if it would land on Slime, Goo, Beans, Pie or Kneel. Here are the definitions:
SLIME - Green Slime poured over their heads
GOO - A mixture of flour, water and green food coloring poured over there heads
BEANS - A can of black beans poured over there heads
PIE - A cream pie in their face
KNEEL - They had to kneel in macaroni and beans and have the same poured over them

The kids left messy but had a blast!

ROYAL RANGERS PINEWOOD DERBY - March 27, 2009

"Gentleman! Start your engines!" Well, not really engines but how about Pinewood Derby Cars! There was a huge turnout at the SGT Felowship Center as our Royal Rangers Outpost 149 hosted their annual Outpost Pinewood Derby. The evening started with a great devotional by Pastor Rich Collingridge, our Missions Pastor. Then...the racing began as cars flew down the wooden track with each of the boys watching intently from the sidelines hoping for thier car to win the race.
A special thanks to Commander Artie Straus and all of our faithful Commnders who helped make this event a HUGE success!

DO YOU KNOW THE ANSWER??? - March 22, 2009

On Sunday morning at 8:30 am & 12:15 pm, Kidz for Christ became a set for a Game Show for kids, "Do you Know the answer?" Our kids were quizzed throughout the event from lessons they learned at Kidz for Christ from February 15 & 22 as well as March 1 & 15. The teams were Orange vs. Red.

Our game show host WADE WINALOT began our game show with the "Snake Can Game." When kids opened cans, a springy snake popped out and they had to answer a question. If they opened the one can with a flower, they were eligible to win the grand prize...a monopoly board game. The games moved onto a brand new game "Wheel of questions." Kids had to spin a giant spinner and see if it landed on Today's Life Story, Bible lesson, memory verse, object lesson or video. If it landed on video, the kids had to watch a big screen and watch as one of the SGT pastors asked them a question on video. The next game was a take-off of the old 1960's/ 1970's game show "Let's Make a deal." It's called 3 boxes. Kids had to choose box #1, #2 or #3. Under each box was either a question, a prize or a can of beans. The last three games were Bible Quiz Master, Fill in the blank (memory verse) and Multiple guess.

The kids had a blast and everyone walked out with a prize and a Kidz for Christ shaker as they rooted for their team. Check out a video below!!

SUPER SUNDAY! - February 1, 2009

The "big game" might have been the night of February 1st 2009 at 6:30 in Tampa Bay between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals, but we had an even bigger game and program at our KIDZ FOR CHRIST at 8:30 am & 12:15 pm. It as our first ever Super Sunday! Our Gym was decorated like a football field complete with a turf (green carpet), goal posts that really looked cool, bleachers and a scoreboard. All of our workers wore uniforms and cheered on the sidelines for either the Cardinals or Steelers. We even had a "race" on the scoreboard like you see at major sports arena's!

Many kids came dressed either as players or cheerleaders. Our theme for the morning was "Being on God's Team." We also had the debut of "Toy box Theater", a video featuring the story of Elijah & the Prophets of Baal with Toys! The kids had a blast! We had object lessons as well and in the third service we even had the kids do a chant back and forth "We love Jesus, yes we do. We love Jesus. How about you?"

This program looks to be a new tradition here at SGT!

CHILDREN'S WEEK OF PRAYER - January 11-16, 2009

What could possibly be better than starting your new year with a Week of Prayer? In the Past, we have had Children's Prayer Services on either a Sunday night or Wednesday evening. This past year we held five services for the kids while the parents prayed in the Sanctuary. Here was our schedule!

  • Sunday evening we had Prayer Stations praying for our country, church, government and ministries of SGT.

  • Tuesday night was awesome. We did a Prayer Walk throughout the church offices praying for the pastors and secretaries, we prayed in the E building for the various SCS classes and we also prayed in the D building for the High school classes.

  • On Wednesday, we prayed for Long Island and had 50 kids that night.

  • On Thursday, we prayed for our missionaries.

  • On Friday, we prayed for the children around the world.

It was an awesome week. Please check out our pictures below.

A BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR JESUS! - December 21, 2008

In spite of a snowy weekend and a wet Sunday morning, we had a total of 53 kids come to our very first birthday party for Jesus at Kidz for Christ on Sunday morning December 21st. Between two services we had object lessons, a bible lesson all about the birth of our Savior as well as a party game, cake (yes, we sang Happy Birthday to Jesus), balloons, decorations, hats...the works. The kids had a blast and we are looking to start a new tradition here at SGT every December!

PRE-TEEN CHALLENGE - "MEDICAL MADNESS" - December 6, 2008

While many Long Islanders may have been in the Smithhaven Mall shopping for Christmas presents on a cold Saturday in December, the Pre-teens of Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle had other ideas. 15 of them all joined together in the Auditorium as we resurrected The Preteen Challenge after a 4 year absence.

The Preteen Challenge was developed in 1995 for one single purpose...so the 5th and 6th graders coyuld have a blast, get messy and have fun! If you take Double Dare, Dress for the Mess and SlimeTime Live and make it a game show all in one with a theme...you have the Preteen Challenge! Our theme for December 6th was "MEDICAL MADNESS." Here are some of the games that we played all in pictures!
